Phishing sites trick individuals into divulging confidential personal information such as corporate passwords, social security numbers, credit card information, and financial data. According to the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG), in 2004 phishing scam websites increased by roughly 50 percent month to month.

Phishing scams use email to lure internet users to counterfeit websites.
